How Do Games Influence People?

The Wacky Games Hall of Fame

For this activity, you are going to create your own wacky game.

It can be a completely original game, or it can be a weird and strange variation of a game you already know. You will write a description of the equipment used in your game, and then you will explain the purpose of the game and how to play it.

An infograph provides visual information. It is a picture that presents information quickly and clearly. An infograph includes icons (a small sign that provides information such as a stick figure that represents a person), logos, graphs, charts, flow charts or graphic organizers, maps, legends, pictures, and words as needed.

You will design an infograph of your game, either on paper or on the Internet.

Writing About Your Game

First, decide if you want to create a new game or make a variation of a game you already know. Complete the Wacky Game Instructions sheet with information about your game. You can use point form for this sheet, but check your spelling to make sure it is correct.

Designing an Infograph of Your Game

You can choose what part of your game that you want to design an infograph of:

The cover of the game box (if you are using a game that already exists, DO NOT copy the cover of the original game box. Make your own cover for your version of the game.)
How the game looks when it is set up
A scene of people playing the game

Websites

If you decide to use the Internet to create your picture, use the website abcya.com and follow these instructions for abcya.com. You may also choose to draw your picture on paper and scan it onto your computer.

Review the Wacky Game rubric to check to make sure you have created the best picture possible.

Instructions for saving your work.

How to save a file for submission:

Select your Documents folder as the location to Save In.
Name the documents. You will always name your documents in a similar way.

Use the first letter of your first name, followed by your last name, then an underscore (_), then the name of the file.
In this case, the file names are Wacky Game Instructions and Wacky Game Picture. For example, if my name is John Smith, I would name my files jsmith_gameinstructions and jsmith_wackygamepicture.

Click Save. Your map is in your Documents folder.

Instructions for submitting your work to the teacher.

Submit your file to the teacher:

Submit your completed Wacky Game Instructions and Wacky Game Picture.
Click on the Add Submission button to upload your document.

Add any new words you found in this selection to your Vocabulary Chart.
