In this second part of assignment 1.5, you will choose a poem or song from an approved list and write a theme statement for that text. Be sure to go back to the Moodle Forum to read the feedback on your first theme statement.  Consider this feedback as you begin this portion of the assignment.

Step 1:  Before you begin, examine the rubric to see how your assignment will be assessed.

Step 2:  Also, read Simon’s 1.5 Six-Word Theme Statement sample assignment.  Notice the rubric is included so you can see how he was assessed.

Step 3:  Download the 1.5 chart (in Word, Google doc, or PDF) you will complete for this assignment.

Step 4:  Choose a poem or song from the approved list. 

NOTE:  Links are provided (where possible) so you can see and/or hear these poems performed by the original poets or by others.

Step 5:  Complete the 1.5 chart for this assignment.

Step 6:  When finished, save your assignment in the following way:  Your Full Name 1.5 Six Word Theme Statement.

Step 7:  Submit your assignment in the space provided.
