and read the World Gender Gap and explain why Employment equity in Canada and other countries continues to be a concern.

6. Refer to the content on page 340 of your textbook, regarding Foreign Debt.
a. Explain why nations borrow large sums of money?
b. Describe the role of the World Bank and IMF and explain how this
has influenced the quality of life in developing nations.
7. The International Labour Organization has identified four fundamental principles and rights at work. Research the International Labour Organization online to identify these principles and explain how globalization discourages the implementation of these principles in the work place.
8. What are the criteria for Effective Governance? Do you think all countries practice effective government all the time? Refer to page 339 and visit the Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International web sites to help answer this question.
