Have you tried your hand at solving three-dimensional wooden puzzles, such as the star-shaped puzzle in the photograph? Their challenge is two-fold—how do they come apart and, what’s more difficult, how do they go back together again? Puzzles are mathematical by nature and have been incorporated into each lesson and the module project.
Throughout this module you examined two- and three-dimensional practical applications of the right triangle. In the first three lessons, you reviewed the Pythagorean theorem, similar right triangles, and right-triangle trigonometry. In the last two lessons you applied your knowledge to solve problems involving two or three right triangles in 2-D and 3-D situations.
