Have you ever looked at the design of a building or a garden area? You may have noticed different geometric shapes and how the shapes repeat and change size or location throughout the design. When people are designing and building projects such as these, it is helpful to have an understanding of geometry.
Module 5 is about geometry and how geometry applies to building and design. You will work to answer the module question: How can geometry be used in building and design?
In this module you will focus on triangles, quadrilaterals, and regular polygons, and on how these shapes can be changed in size and location. To do this, you will explore the lessons and questions in the table.

Designing a backyard to make full use of the space and to have a pleasing appearance is the job of landscape architects. Some people hire a designer to design the backyard of their home. In the Module 5 Project you will explore how to design the backyard of a home.
You will be prompted to complete Module 5 Project: Designing a Yard as you work through the lessons. You might want to skip forward to the Module 5 Project for a sneak peek now.
