Unit B Assessment
1. Unit B Assessment
Unit B Assessment
The Unit B assessment is titled “A Fertility Case Study.” You will discover information throughout Unit B that you will be able to use in developing your response to the Unit B Assessment. In “A Fertility Case Study” you will examine the case histories of three infertile couples and their journey towards conceiving children. As you work through Module 3 you will discover possible structural and hormonal issues leading to their fertility issues. In Module 4, you will discover possible developmental and environmental issues that may have contributed to their fertility issues. Throughout the unit you will study reproductive technologies that these couples may use to enhance their chances of starting a family.
The Unit B Assessment is worth 30 marks. Your work for each couple is worth 10 marks. For each couple, you will be asked to develop a response involving:
-
identification of a fertility issue for each member of the couple (2 marks)
-
identification of other issues contributing to infertility (2 marks)
-
discussion of three issues that you would discuss with the couple about their fertility (1 mark each = 3 marks)
-
Discussion of choices and technologies that are available to address their fertility issues (1 mark each = 3 marks)
As you work through Modules 3 and 4, you may wish to develop a draft of your Unit B Assessment response. An excellent way to record your thoughts would be a table for each couple which includes the four bullets listed above. As you work through the unit, record information that could be relevant to the Unit B Assessment in a table similar to the following table.
Couple |
Infertility Issue for Each Person |
Two Other Issues Contributing to Infertility |
Three Issues or Causes of Infertility To Be Discussed with the Couple |
