Review Session 1 to prepare for writing the quiz. As you review, note the sections that connect with the following points:

• Many personal qualities contribute to the effectiveness of child care providers. It is important that child care providers understand which qualities they have and which qualities they need to develop further.

• Quality care should support a child’s emotional, social, physical, creative, and intellectual development needs.

• The roles of a child care provider include the following:
  – basic care
  – education
  – organization
  – connecting with families and communities

• The roles of a child care provider can be categorized as either primary or support roles. All roles of a child care provider are important, but only primary roles count toward staff-to-child ratios.
