Looking Backward
You have almost finished CCS3150: Early Learning and Child Care 5. There are two videos for you to view and two learning activities to complete.
Where will you go from here? You have been introduced to a wide range of topics that can enhance the quality of care you provide to young children in a daycare setting. While you have a sound beginning in developing your abilities as a caregiver, it is important to realize that the skills discussed during this course are complex.
There is so much to learn about children and families. Further learning will help you better understand children, families, and how to work effectively, and will take you on the path toward being a professional child care provider—an early childhood educator. Learning is a lifelong activity and occurs in formal and informal settings, at home, on the radio and television, on the Internet, with books and journals, and, of course, in colleges and universities.
Take some time now to view “Professional Practice”. You may require a username and password to access this video. Contact your teacher for this information.
Through your completion of this course, you will be eligible to apply for your Child Development Assistant Certification. A Child Development Assistant Certificate entitles you to work at a licensed preschool program, out-of-school care (OSC) program, day care centre, or approved family day home agency. For more information, see the Requirements for Certification as a Child Development Assistant in the Course Orientation.
You must submit an application and proof of course completion (for example, transcripts or teacher recommendation) to the Child Development Branch of Alberta Children and Youth Services in order to obtain your Child Development Assistant Certificate.
Looking Forward
