At Ignite Centre for eLearning, we helped to pilot the AMA Learner's License Prep Online course and it was terrific. Interactive, culturally inclusive, and great preparation for students wanting to get ready for their learner's license. Here's the message from the AMA Driver's Education department:

We are excited to launch our Driver Education: School Edition programs and are looking for schools that would be interested in receiving our principal packages, in addition to you and Ignite.

The Driver Education: School Edition programs are comprised of two courses to help students being their learning to drive journey:

  • Learner’s License Prep online course
  • New Driver Program online course
If you know of other online (or non-traditional schools) that would be interested in providing our learn to drive programs to students, could you please have them contact us and we’ll send them the information.

This is super interesting Daylene! I don't suppose there are any high school credits attached?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Yolanda!
Great question! While there's no "official" credit for completing the program, it does fit well with General Outcome 3 of the CALM curriculum. Many RAP and paid internship positions with Careers Next Generation require a driver's license and it would seem that growing numbers of youth are choosing not to get their driver's license until well after high school completion. This is a great bridging opportunity for students and their future/current employment opportunities.

Hope this helps!
