In order to learn about the growth, development and propagation of plants, it is necessary to be familiar with the different parts of plants. You must know what the purpose of each part is, and how each part works to sustain and propagate the plant.

- leaves
- flowers
- fruit
- seeds
These six parts are divided into two classifications:

vegetative parts of a plant - the roots, stems, and leaves of a plant. Plants are propagated asexually, by means of the vegetative parts of the plant.
- The reproductive parts of a plant - the flowers, fruit, and seeds of a plant. Plants are propagated sexually, by means of the reproductive parts of the plant.
