Exam One Study Guide
This exam was designed to be completed in one hour. It is based on the content you learned up to this point in your English 10-1 course. This exam is worth 5% of your course mark. You will need to bring your Sightlines 10 textbook, and you are encouraged to bring a dictionary, thesaurus, and Writer's Handbook to the exam.
Note: This exam requires a supervisor.
- Read and/or listen to the short story "A Secret Lost in the Water" on pp. 104-106 and the essay "Remembrance" on pp. 64-65 in your Sightlines 10 textbook. There may be questions on either of these texts.
- Review Glossary terms.
- Review all tutorials from Module 1:
- How to Find Good Online Information
- Reading Strategies
- How to Read Poetry
- Grammar and Punctuation
- Writing Paragraphs
- Short Stories
- Study all Open-Book Reviews.
- Part A: Multiple Choice (12 marks) Answer twelve multiple-choice questions based on content you learned throughout the module and reading comprehension of a text.
- Part B: Matching (12 marks) Match 12 terms with their definitions.
- Part C: Written Response (24 marks) Write polished paragraph responses to several questions.
Your midterm consists of three sections:
