Time to Start Reading Your Novel!

This is not your novel unit yet, but rather, this page is to remind you that you might wish to begin reading your novel at this point of the course to ensure you are ready when the novel work does begin in Unit 3. Completing an independent novel study may be frightening for some of you, but there are some very specific steps to follow that will help you to be successful! Please be sure to call your teacher if you have any questions about your novel reading planning or about the novel work.

In Unit 3, you will find your novel work for this course. You may choose to read the novel in advance, or you may choose to wait and do some very intense reading when you begin your Unit 3 work. Please do whatever works best for you, but do remember that reading a novel definitely takes time, so you will need to pace your course work to allow time for this reading to be completed. Whatever your choice, you will need to make a reading plan that will work for your reading speed, your reading habits, and your intended completion date for the reading of your novel. It is strongly suggested that you read your novel in advance, and an example of a reading schedule is provided for you below. If you follow this reading schedule, you should have your novel reading completed, or nearly completed, when you are ready to begin work in Unit 3.

Step 1:  When you choose to begin reading your novel is your choice. However, it is very important that you follow these specific steps from your Introduction to the Novel course page before you begin reading.
