Helpful Resources

  1. Several virtual students have shared their work throughout the course. You will see how they approached assignments and how their assignments were marked. You can view their biographies on the Meet Your Virtual Classmates page.

  2. Throughout the course, you may see vocabulary that is bold and blue. Teachers writing the course emphasized difficult key terms by bolding them and colouring them blue to help these words stand out. Keep your Viewpoints 11 and Reference Points textbooks handy, as you will find their glossaries helpful.
  1. Some assignments will contain tabs called EXTRA HELP and EXTRA CHALLENGE.
  • If you read the assignment and feel yourself stressing, look at the EXTRA HELP section. There will be extra information, and some student samples that will help you get started.

  • If you read the assignment and think, "Seems pretty easy. I'd like a bit more of a challenge", check the EXTRA CHALLENGE section. There are alternative assignments or sample student work that will challenge you. Choose any assignment in that list and get additional feedback from your marker. These are not for bonus marks. You may find the feedback helpful in developing your English Language Arts skills. You are marked using the same rubric for the assignment it replaces.
4.  With each assignment, you will see a tab called ASSESSMENT. The information provided there will       show you how your work will be assessed. Review the rubrics carefully, as they will give you guidance in preparing your assignments.
