Lesson 1


Lesson 1 dealt with the management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. All these functions are important for the manager to achieve the business objectives and business goals.

Lesson 2


Lesson 2 explored management responsibilities in the areas of Production and Manufacturing, Finance and Accounting, Marketing, Purchasing, Human Resources, and Research and Development. Depending on the size of an organization, only one manager might oversee all these areas or several managers might be assigned to various departments.

How a manager chooses to organize his responsibilities was examined in Lesson 3 by reviewing the theories of Classical Management, Scientific Management, Management by Objectives, Management by Wandering Around, The Japanese Model of Management, Total Quality Management, and Site-Based Management.

The optimum combination of management techniques to ensure effective organizational functioning of human, technological, and material resources enables a business to achieve its goals and objectives.
