Ecosystems and Biomes

If no human beings had come to Alberta, the landscape would look very different than it does now.  Rather than having a mixture of many types of plants and animals in the same area, we now have large fields each with one type of crop.  We also have large herds of cattle within fenced pastures.  Other areas are covered with roads and houses.  How have all of these activities affected ecosystems in Alberta?
