Section 4 - Protecting the Environment

Humans use the environment in a manner that is totally different from animals or plants.  We produce things that the environment cannot break down.  We also create and use chemicals that may have side effects damaging the environment and ourselves. 

Our world is of a finite size; we must be careful as to how the billions of people on the planet have their needs met and how waste is treated.  In this section, we will go into some areas of concern and see what we can do about it. 

Read the introduction to Chapter 15 on page 290.  Then, read What You Will Learn, Why it is Important, and Skills You Will Use on page 291.  This introduction will give you a further overview of what you will be covering in this section.
