Assignment 3.6: Position Paper

Writing an essay format position paper is an important way to utilize and demonstrate your skills of analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of ideas.

You will need to show that you understand the perspective reflected in a source and establish your own position in response to that source. Your response must argue in favour of your position defending it with evidence from your Social Studies knowledge from reading and/or research.

This assignment will introduce you to the Position Paper written response found on your exams both in this course and in the diploma exams at the end of Grade Twelve.

To what extent do government policies address effectively the consequences of historical globalization? In this critical assignment, you will need to research the Canadian government response to residential schools and develop a position about that response. Your response will be in the form of an essay.
