- CHECK with your teacher if you need to. If after completing all these steps you are still not sure about the questions or your answers, you should ask for more feedback from your teacher. To do this, post in the Course Questions Forum, or send your teacher an email. In either case, attach your completed quiz and ask; "Can you look at this quiz and give me some feedback please?" They will be happy to help you!

If you have not done the quiz yet – STOP – and go back to step 1 above. Do not look at the answers without first trying the questions.
Static loads stay the same; they do not move. On a highway interchange bridge, the static load is the weight of the materials used to build the bridge. This includes materials such as steel, concrete, and/or asphalt that are in the supports of the bridge as well as the bridge deck.
Dynamic loads change. Dynamic loads on a pedestrian bridge include the weight of people, bicycles, and/or baby strollers using the bridge. Other dynamic loads that engineers must consider are the forces of winds and possible earthquakes.
The roof frame is made from triangles. A triangle distributes a load more evenly across the sides of the triangle, which makes it resistant to deformation. The roof also forms a slight curved dome shape. The dome shape transfers the load to the bottom of the roof frame. The combination of the triangle and dome shapes makes this roof very strong.
You should be concerned about bending force. The weight of clothing pulls down on the rod. This produces tension on the bottom part of the clothes rod and compression on the top part of the clothes rod. Tension and compression working together cause bending.
The Library of Parliament has arched windows. The arches transfer the load from the stone building down sides of the arches to the ground. Buttresses surround the library, providing additional support to the arches in the building. The roof of the library is a dome, which transfers the load from the roof down through the rest of the structure.
