In your journal entry from the previous page, you reflected on your quality of life. You must remember that your health, happiness, and security are just as important to your quality of life as your economic well-being.
The term economic well-being refers to standard of living. For instance, a high standard of living means that a high quality and quantity of goods and services are available to support living. This contributes to material well-being.
Although quality of life and standard of living are two different concepts, they are related. Standard of living is one factor used to evaluate quality of life. All elements that influence standard of living have price tags.
In Canada, we can rate standard of living by using statistics such as average income, average number of televisions per household, average number of vehicles per household, and average amount of money spent on entertainment.

- Note the provinces and/or territories that have the highest and lowest incomes in both categories.
When analyzing standard of living, gross domestic product per person (GDP per capita) is often used as a measure. You can use GDP to determine how well off people are.
