Unit 5: Section 1: Working Together
Inquiry into the Issue
Governments in Canada offer programs and services to provide assistance and opportunities for all Canadians, especially the less-advantaged members of society. Laws have been enacted to reduce human suffering. At one time, Canada had fewer programs to lessen economic inequalities than many countries. Since the 1940s, however, the government has worked to address social needs. Today, Canada is one of the world's leading countries in overall quality of life.
