Fluids have no fixed shape and they flow. Liquids and gases have no fixed shape and they flow, which is why they are fluids. Solids on the other hand, have a fixed shape. Solids do not flow from one place to another; rather, they require energy to make them move.
There are a number of ways to safely work with hazardous chemicals around the house, which include:

  • Storing chemicals out of the reach of small children
  • Storing flammable materials and compressed gases away from heat
  • Wearing gloves and eye protection when working with corrosive materials
  • Disposing of chemicals at fire stations or landfill collection sites
  • Washing your hands immediately after working with harmful chemicals
