Who makes international economic decisions?
Because the economies of all countries are interconnected in matters of trade, there are many decision makers. In this section you have looked at the many different organizations that are involved in making and enforcing rules in the global economy.
If a poor country wants to borrow money from a wealthy country, who decides on the terms of the loan to help the poor country move ahead while still protecting the investment made by the wealthy nation? Can a rich nation such as the United States impose its own tariffs on imports from poorer nations just because it has the economic power to do so? How can we ensure that decisions are fair? Should rich and powerful nations control everything?
