      • These pages explain the development of the Canadian Pacific Railroad and its challenges.

      • Building the Iron Road (transcontinental railroad) began in the 1870s to bring British Columbia into Confederation, to keep the Americans out of Canada, and to transport thousands of settlers and immigrants to the West.

  5. When you have completed your Canadian Pacific Railroad worksheet, go to the next page.

  6. The transcontinental railway was completed in 1885.
