For hundreds of years, Japan was isolated from the remainder of the world and, as a result, it developed a unique worldview.

Changes starting in the 19th century caused the Japanese worldview to change as well.

What was Japan like before the process of change began? What caused this change to happen? How was Japan different after the changes? Did some things stay the same?

  2. Please save your work to a file on your desktop so you will have a copy to refer back to.

  4. Identify what you know about Japan in its early days and in modern times on the Venn diagram.

    • In the centre loop, suggest some ideas to explain why these changes might have occurred.
