5.2 The particles よ and ね

The particle よ comes at the end of a sentence and it has the meaning of "You know" or "I tell you."

The particle よ is used when you want to put emphasis on what you are saying.  

このほんはおもしろいですよ！  "This book is interesting, you know!"


このすしはおいしいですよ！  "I tell you, this sushi is delicious!"

The particle ね comes at the end of a sentence and it has the meaning of "Right?", "Isn't it?" or "Aren't they?"

The particle ね is used when you are seeking agreement from the listener about something.

このほんはおもしろいですね。　　This book is interesting, isn't it?　


あのくるまはおおきいですね。　 That car over there is big, isn't it?
