Discover: Various Climates of the World

Earth has many interesting climate areas.
When you compare climates around the world, the two most important weather elements are temperature and precipitation.  Meteorologists can learn much about a climate by studying a climograph for the area.  A climograph tells the average temperature and precipitation for a region during the year.

A climograph for Calcutta, India.  Note that the average temperature is well over 20ËšC (the red line on the graph) and the region receives much rain (the green bars on the graph).  Climographs are special because they have two scales: precipitation on the left, temperature on the right.
