What can I learn about the Cordillera Region from a map?

Compare the maps of the region.  Download and use the Cordillera Region map below to complete the following:

Write the names of

  • province(s) and territories in this region
  • landforms such as the Rocky Mountains, Mount Robson, Mount Logan
  • rivers in the region such as Fraser River and Columbia River (after which the province BC is named)
  • islands such as Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii
  • fjords such as Howe Sound
  • bays such as English Bay
  • oceans such as the Pacific Ocean
  • Canada's mini desert south of Penticton which has less rainfall than the Sahara desert
  • capital cities, Victoria and Whitehorse, and other cities such as Vancouver, Penticton, Kelowna, and Dawson City     


Draw lines or pictures on your map to show

  • where the Trans-Canada Highway crosses the region
