Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

Lesson 2: Transversals - Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
Constructing Knowledge
Perpendicular lines are lines that meet at a 90° angle. The two lines used to form the letter 'T' are an example of perpendicular lines.
Parallel lines are two (or more) lines that are the same distance apart along their entire length. Parallel lines never meet or cross.
Lines that meet at any other angle are neither parallel nor perpendicular.
For there to be a relationship between the angles created by a transversal, the lines passed through by the transversal must be parallel.
EXAMPLE
Based on their appearances, label the following sets of lines as perpendicular, parallel, or neither.
Lines | Parallel, Perpendicular, or Neither |
