Lesson 2: Transversals - Corresponding Angles
Construction Knowledge
Corresponding angles are on the same side of a transversal and on the same side of the parallel lines.
Corresponding angles are equal in measure.

The sets of corresponding angles are:
- ∠A and ∠E are both on the left side of the transversal and the top side of the parallel lines.
- ∠C and ∠G are both on the right side of the transversal and the top side of the parallel lines.
- ∠B and ∠F are both on the right side of the transversal and the bottom side of the parallel lines.
- ∠D and ∠H are both on the left side of the transversal and the bottom side of the parallel lines.
Multimedia
A video describing corresponding angles is provided.
EXAMPLE
Name the corresponding angles in the aerial photograph of the group of airport runways shown.
The sets of corresponding angles are:
Solution
The sets of corresponding angles are:
- ∠1 and ∠5
- ∠3 and ∠6
- ∠2 and ∠7
- ∠4 and ∠8

Now, it is your turn! Complete the questions in your Chapter 6, Lesson 2 Practice Makes Perfect that refer to Corresponding Angles.
