Lesson 2: Transversals - Alternate Interior Angles

Interior means on the inside. Alternate means to switch from one to another.

Alternate interior angles are inside the parallel lines and on opposite sides of the transversal.

Alternate interior angles are equal in measure.



The sets of alternate interior angles are:

  • ∠D and ∠G
  • ∠B and ∠E

Name the alternate interior angles in this aerial photograph of airport runways.

Solution


The sets of alternate interior angles are:

  • ∠2 and ∠6
  • ∠4 and ∠5
