Alternate exterior angles are on the outside of the parallel lines and on opposite sides of the transversal.

Alternate exterior angles are equal in measure.



The sets of alternate exterior angles are:

  1. ∠A and ∠F
  2. ∠C and ∠H

EXAMPLE

Name the alternate exterior angles in the aerial photograph of the group of airport runways shown.

Solution


The sets of alternate exterior angles are:

  • ∠1 and ∠8
  • ∠3 and ∠7
