,Not all sequences follow an arithmetic pattern. In Lesson 1.3, you are going to investigate a second type of sequence, called a geometric sequence. Real life examples of geometric sequences are bacterial growth, decay of radioactive material, and compound interest.




In Lesson 1.3, you will

  • provide and justify examples of geometric sequences,
  • derive and calculate the general term of a geometric sequence
  • solve problems involving geometric sequences, and
  • identify assumptions made in the definition of a geometric sequence.
