The only parameter that remains constant between vertex form and standard form is \(a\). While the vertex form’s emphasis is on the vertex, standard form is often used to discuss the \(x\)- and \(y\)-intercepts of the graph of the quadratic function. You must be fluent in using both forms as well as converting between them.
