Converting a mixed radical into an entire radical
To move a coefficient of a radical into the radicand, you must apply an exponent equal to the index. For example,
\(\begin{align}
2\sqrt{5} &= \sqrt{2^2} \cdot \sqrt{5}\\
&= \sqrt{2^2 \cdot 5} \\
&= \sqrt{4 \cdot 5} \\
&= \sqrt{20} \\
\end{align}\)
