The focus of trigonometry in Math 10C was on the right triangle. In Lesson 4.2, you used your knowledge of right angle trigonometry to solve problems involving angles greater than \(90^\circ\). In Lesson 4.3, you will continue to expand your understanding of trigonometry to solve triangles that do not have a right angle. By the end of the lesson, you will use two new trigonometric laws to solve non-right triangle problems.

In Lesson 4.3, you will

  • sketch a diagram that involves a triangle without a right angle,
  • solve non-right angle triangles,
  • prove the sine and cosine laws,
  • solve problems using the sine and cosine laws, and
  • describe the ambiguous case of the sine law.
