Advertising allows people to make public announcements. Notices or advertisements are found on billboards, clothing, food wrappers, sports equipment, cars, cell phones... you name it! Ads are found in the media.
- One to one media such as letters (flyers and coupons), emails (spam), and telephone (telemarketing, telephone town halls)
- Information media such as newspapers and magazines
- Entertainment media such as video games, comics, movies, and the Internet

Remove Ads from Course Videos
Your next task is to watch a video.
Sometimes, an advertisement will pop onto the screen after you click the video play button. To remove the ad, click the X (usually in the top right corner of the ad).

Advertisements have a basic purpose: to persuade viewers or listeners to buy an item so that a company can make money.
What do you see being advertised in this commercial? Were you surprised by what this ad was 'selling'? If it was not selling an item, what was the ad persuading viewers to do?
