Unit 2

How Do Advertisements Influence People?

Activity

Research ads for a household product on the Internet to explore how ads have changed over the years.

A cause-effect relationship is when one event causes another event to happen (the effect).

An invention may cause a product to change. For example, the invention of the car changed transportation and lifestyles because people no longer used the horse and buggy.

Consumers or buyers who change their preferences are another reason for a product change.  Can you think  of a toy you own that is no longer sold?

Words that show cause and effect are because, so, since, therefore, consequently, and as a result.

Choose one product (such as a bike, telephone, toaster, or clothes iron) and trace it across several decades.

Click the coloured tabs for information about the activity.
