Chewing your food, raising your hand, or taking a step are all actions that cause your bones and muscles to work together.

Website

There are many things that you can do to get your body moving. Take a look around the Right to Play website to give you an idea of how many activities there are for children.

Do the following:

  1. Fill in the chart in Question 1 of the Before Reading section on the Reader's Notebook: Let's Get Moving!. The categories for the chart are Activities at Home, Activities at School, and Other Activities (teams, clubs).
  2. When you are finished filling in the chart, look it over and then answer Questions 2 and 3 of the Before Reading section on Reader's Notebook: Let's Get Moving!.
  3. Often participating in activities makes your body feel good but if people are not careful, they can suffer injuries. This selection explains how body parts work together to allow movement to happen.
  4. Read the title and prereading question on page 136 of Literacy in Action 5A and then look over the layout and the graphics.
  5. Go to your KWL Chart and add two questions you would like to have answered by the end of this selection.
