Today's reading is about Moose and Goose, who are trying to figure out how to brand or advertise Canada.
This story is written like a play: the lines that Moose speaks are in black print, and the lines that Goose speaks are in blue print.

How would you advertise Canada to the rest of the world?
Preview the story on page 150 - 153 of Literacy in Action 5B, looking at the title, headings, pictures and captions.
Look carefully at the pictures because they contain a lot of detail. Notice that the story is divided into two parts: Episode 1 and Episode 2.
Go to the Reader’s Notebook: Branding Canada page and answer the three questions in the Before Reading section.

of you read Moose's lines and the other read Goose's. (Remember, Moose
is black text, Goose is blue.) This way, you will get to hear the voices
of the two characters while they try to come up with a logo to
advertise Canada.

- Answer the three questions in the During Reading - Episode 1 section on the Reader’s Notebook page.
Read Episode 2 (with your partner if possible).
- Answer the two questions in the During Reading - Episode 2 section on the Reader’s Notebook page.
After you have finished listening to the story, go to the Reader’s Notebook page and answer the After Reading question.
Remember to add any people or symbols from this story to your organizers from Unit 6: We Are Canadian, Unit Opener. This will make the final activity for this unit much easier to complete.

How to save a file:
- Scan the document to your computer.
