Activity

The Incredible Journey: Home Poem

Your next activity is to write a poem describing the animals' journey to find their owners.

Read over all the words you have listed in your The Incredible Journey Vocabulary. Skim through the novel to locate any other words and phrases that caught your eye when you were reading this novel. Choose a selection of words and phrases that you'd like to use in your poem (ex: laggard, forlorn, uninhabited wasteland) and think about how these might fit together to create a short poem.

Using one of the following poetry formats, write a short poem that describes the animal's journey to find their owners.

Click each coloured tab for information about the activity.

  1. follows the pattern you have chosen
  2. describes or tells about the animals' journey
  3. includes words from the novel
