About the Play
Bradley Hayward’s play Selfie captures the idea of the selfie culture in which we are often more focused on how we want the world to see us rather than how we actually see (and feel about) ourselves.
The play follows eight high school seniors and explores the pressures they endure in their final year of high school. As these eight teens document their lives in a series of selfies, they come to make some important realizations about themselves.
An epiphany is a sudden important realization or understanding, and that is exactly what each of these eight teenagers experience. As you read the play, pay attention to each character’s journey, and what leads that character to his or her moment of epiphany.
