An essay plan keeps your discussion focused directly on the essay question.  By reading Lola’s first attempt at her 4.8 Film Essay, you saw that without a plan, you risk your essay becoming a plot summary instead of a purposeful discussion.  Not good.

In this assignment, you will map out your 4.7 Film Essay Plan. 

In the instructions, you will have an opportunity to see Lola’s essay plan.  Her plan addresses The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and her examples are provided to give you guidance, using a text that is familiar to you.

Please note:  You may not use The Secret Life of Walter Mitty as your text choice for your essay.  You must refer to the film that you chose to study in this course.

You may use any of the course resources, including: your film Elements of Film Handout, the feedback in your Independent Film Study Quiz, and your Observation Charts to help you write your essay.
