Brand Names vs. Look-Alikes
This selection on pages 98 to 100 of Literacy in Action is about comparing brand name clothing with look-alikes that are much cheaper.
A brand name is a particular label or slogan associated with a product.
Brand names are used for clothes, food, cars, electronics, and snacksβalmost anything you can buy.

Think of some brand names that you know. Some examples might be McDonald's, lululemon, Doritos, Nissan, Dell, Nintendo, Guess, American Eagle, Nike, Apple, and Kindle. Because
of advertising, we all know these names, and are led to believe that each is the best product of its type.
