Use the reading strategies of predicting and inferring as you read the story.
Making Connections
Now you will practise the strategy of making connections.
Making connections to other stories is one way to understand and remember new stories. You can also make connections to your own experiences and to events in the real world. These are often called: text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world.
In a realistic story, the main character is portrayed as a real person, so if you can make connections to that character, it will help you understand the story.
What connections can you make between the story and a personal experience you had, or other stories you have read or seen?
