Lesson 1: Lost and Found (5Ws Focus on What)
Completion requirements
Unit 6
What Are Our Connections to the Past?
Lesson 1
How can objects tell stories about the past?
In this lesson, you will read a selection about finding a long lost object.
The 5 Ws are essential to use when gathering information or problem solving such as finding a lost object.
In this unit, you will gather information, problem solve, and write a news article using the 5 Ws and 1 H.

A news article focusses on an event. It answers the questions: who, what, when, where, why, and how.
Feature articles, which are longer and more in depth than regular news articles, cover one subject from multiple angles and are written to entertain. "Lost and Found" is a feature article rather than a news article because it covers the past and present of the lost and found object.
As you read, "Lost and Found", you will practise the reading strategies of predicting (thinking about what might happen or is expected to happen) and making inferences (making a guess based on facts or observations.)
When done the reading, you will describe an object from your past.
