Making Predictions
Every day people make predictions about what might happen in the future. Such as, what the weather will be like tomorrow, who will win the big game, or what might be for lunch today.
Making predictions is a skill used when reading to help you to think about what might happen further on in a story. A prediction is when you use information you already have to decide what might happen next. Predicting helps you to focus on connections and events in the story. It doesn't matter if your prediction is correct or not. When you finish reading, you can check to see if you noticed or missed important details in the story that guided your prediction.
