Unit 1

What is Courage?

Recount the Story
(To recount a story, means to retell the story)

Look at the pictures on pages 27 to 30 of Literacy in Action 4A, think about the people in the pictures and how they have shown courage.

The pictures may also make you remember events that you have experienced yourself or have read or heard about.
When pictues make you think about events you are familiar with, you are connecting with the picture.

Each of the pictures on pages 27 to 30 has a strong message about different types of courage.
Which picture affects you the most?

- You are going to choose one picture from these pages and recount the story of what is happening in it.
- Think about what might have happened before the picture was taken.
- Think about what might happen after the picture was taken.
- Thinking about the before and after, will help you to decide on what will happen in your story.

Make strong choices in your selection of words to make your recounting more interesting.
