Lesson 10
Reader's Notebook
Art Underfoot
In this lesson, you will read pages 144 to 145 of Literacy in Action 4A.
Art Underfoot is an odd title, isn’t it? What kind of art would be underfoot? Looking at the title, headings, and the pictures and their captions usually helps us predict what a story is about, but this one is hard.

Look at the round art piece on page 144 in Literacy in Action 4B. The caption beside it says that it is the “winning entry”, so we know a contest is involved, but we still don’t have much information to go on.
When you read the story, your first questions are likely to be, “What is underfoot, and what contest?”
When you read the story, your first questions are likely to be, “What is underfoot, and what contest?”
Read page 144 of Literacy in Action 4B. When you are finished, answer the first two questions on the Reader’s Notebook: Art Underfoot page.
