Read the title and subtitle of this selection, and look at the picture on page 64 in Literacy in Action 4B.


What funny events do you predict might happen when an awful ogre eats his supper? Download the Reader's Notebook: Awful Ogre Takes His Supper worksheet, then write your predictions in question 1.

Read the poem (pages 65 to 67), pause and check your predictions, then answer the questions 2 to 6 on the worksheet.

To answer every one of the questions, you have to make an inference. Do you remember what an inference is? If not, go back to Reading Skill for a review. You will continue to use the reading skill of inference often in the unit.
