3.1 Decode Assignment Option 1

Assignment Instructions

Read through all the tabs below before you begin this assignment.

  1. Examine the issue the protagonist faces, using the text you chose on the previous page (Time to Read). Use critical thinking strategies and the 3.1a graphic organizer on the worksheet tab to examine the conflict in written detail. Fill the chart out with your observations.

  2. Complete the 3.1b graphic organizer on the worksheet tab. Use the organizer to detail a conflict that is similar to the issue the protagonist faces in the text you chose. Use a personal conflict of your own, or a conflict expressed by an artist in a song, narrative, or poem. Ensure you include the source information of the text you choose.

  3. Check your selection (personal situation, song, narrative, poem) for the 3.1b Organizer to ensure it is appropriate for your reading audience before completing this task! Complete the “Bleepin’ Bleep!” mini-lesson and quiz in the above tab.

  4. Write a detailed paragraph that identifies the similarities or contrasts between the two conflicts you examined in the graphic organizers. Discuss if the solutions were similar or alike, and how. If applicable, how might you address the conflict differently in the future?

  5. Submit your polished work to the 3.1 Decode submission page.
